The History of CenCom E9-1-1
CenCom was formed on September 3, 1989 by intergovernmental agreement between the Villages of Hainesville, Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Height, Round Lake Park and the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District. The center became operational on September 15, 1991. In the year 2000, CenCom E9-1-1 began also providing communications services for the Villages of Barrington and Inverness. The main drive behind CenCom’s creation was to enhance departmental cooperation, increase efficiency and officer and citizen safety through a centralized communications center.
